can we install dual rams in different capacity?

dear, koi mujhy ye bata sakta hai ke men apny system men 2 Rams install kar sakta hon different capacity ki?

For Example:
ek ram 512MB DDR1 ki aur dosri ram 1GB DDR1 ki? koi masla to nahn ho ga na? men ne suna hai ke 2 different capacity ki ram install karen to low capacity ki ram burn ho jata hai. kya ye sahi hai?
