Virus is nothing by itself but a technique. which can be used for good purpose and bad purpose.. here are some example of good purpose virus programs.
i) Antivirus .. (u may amazed but yes its work like virus, but to search virus not to distroy ur data)

ii) Virtual servers and machines etc ..
