RAM is non permanent.
When the computer is
turned off, everything
on the RAM is deleted. It is only used temporarily for applications/
programs that want to retrieve data quickly. Non-volatile memory technology does NOT get deleted when you turn the computer/ laptop off. It stays there. A common object that
does this is the hard
disk drive. You can store documents/data on this without fear of losing it.
Synchronous Dynamic
Random Access
Memory. the key word
here is Dynamic as it
requires a refresh in
order to hold its data.
electricity is the key in
maintaining the data
when the memory is
dynamic. nonvolatile
memory simply does
not require a refresh in
order to hold data SRAM and flash memory are examples of nonvolatile memory. if you are in
some sort of Cisco class nonvolatile memory is where your configuration is stored when there is no power and then when the router boots up it copy's the information from NV memory into Dram.
thats it.
