    Sony Ericsson Tips and Tricks!

    Where was the Sony Thread?
Ah well im starting it now! Party!
Lol Im joking. Im not tipped up so could please other members add tips as well. I have a K750 so my tips are aimed at the K750.

    1. The service menu:
This is a hidden menu in Sony Ericsson phones. It allows you to test features of your phone, see all the text labels in your phone (warning there is a lot), see the firmware version of the phone.

To get in: press >*<<*<* at the standby screen. > is joystick right < is joystick left.

    2. The unlock menu;
If you get a unlock code of the operator this is where you enter it. Although you can pay £10 to get it done down the market (our phones are not BB5)

This is where I get into the firmware flashing part.

You can flash your K750 to W800 for free (if the phone is CID36) and gain the walkman but lose the activity menu.
For that I refer you to :
    h+tp://www.magazist.web.id/index.php?/content/view/35/26/
^^ Im lazy but LiveDevil of iphone-forum wrote that guide.

BUT if you use EMEA firmware; you can patch up the phone to unlock features (send java games; banish the java security prompts and much more) .

Look here for info (look through all the thread):
    h+tp://forums.se-nse.net/index.php?showtopic=4012&st=0

This allows you to use your WAP through your computer's broadband:

    Best regards and cheers

    Don't Drain The Battery
    --------------------------------------------------
With Lithium batteries there is no advantage to draining the battery. The battery will infact last longer with partial rather than full discharges. There is no battery memory effect with a lithium battery - you can charge the battery whenever you like without fear of reducing its charge capacity, and you do not need to drain a lithium battery completely before recharging it. Find out more about Lithium batteries here: http://www.batteryuniversity.com/ In response to lots of questions about the battery, I've explained things in greater detail on page 4 of this thread.

    Remote Control
    --------------------------------------------------
I only just discovered what the remote control application is capable of, so I think this is worth a mention for those of you that might have thought nothing of it... I've used the SE developer tools to customize a remote for winamp, easier to use than windows notepad! I've also made a shortcut pointing to C:/WINDOWS/system32/shutdown.exe -s -t 5 -c "K750i Bluetooth remote command" which is a network command to shut down the computer after 5 seconds. If you put the shortcut in the start menu somewhere, you can assign a shortcut key to execute it e.g. CTRL+ALT+0. Which in turn you can program your remote to use on one of it's buttons. --------------------------------------------------
You can change track in the mediplayer when you are in the minimized (and locked) mode. Just keep the volume button pressed either down or up for a second and it will change track instead of volume. If you press a short press first it will not allow you to change track for a couple of seconds and just change volume...

I cant edit any more so I want to add this info:

    2 ways to activate TechMode:

    * enter *585*0000# in standby mode + Send button
    * enter *585*0000 in standby mode + Call button

You will see on the screen:
    QUOTE
    TechMode started

Go to My Shortcuts -> you will see TechMode application.
You can see the TechMode application in Settings->Mobile Networks.

There are 3 screens in TechMode:
    - GSM Channel
    - GSM AMR
    - GSM GPRS

To minimize TechMode push and hold return button.

On my phone TechMode screen looks like this:

HHHH I JJJ K LL MM
NNN OO PP QQQ RR SSSS

    * 512...885 - DCS1800

-DD - Rxl (recieve level): -40dBm...-117dBm, -40 is strongest signal
    EEEE - Cell ID
    F - Cell sector number
G - no info (my phone shows 1 or "---" when phone hopps to other cell. Shows 2 with another SIM. When I switched phone to another operator network 93)
HHHH - seems like another channel
I - no info (in my phone almost always 4, possibly fiquency of phone registration at network)
JJJ - no info, range 0...31
K - no info (seems like Timeslot number)
