basically transistor is made up of two words
one is trans---transfer
other is sistor----resistor...............so transfer of resistance is called transistor

remember from ohm law if resistance is greater voltage is high n inverse to current

there are three terminal of base collector and emmiter.
resistance between base n emitter is too low in common base configuration and it is used as input signal

while the resistance between collector n emitter is high which is used as output signal.

this principle makes amplification which inturn means voltage enhancement
