Striving Against The Ego.

As-Salaam alaikum,
Ayat 41 of Surat Tawba (9:41) and Ayat 78 of Surat Hajj (22:78) of the Holy Qur'an all touched on striving against the Nafs (ego), Satan and other outward enemies...or if you like, we should be engaged all too often in Jihad-Nafs and Mujahada, whereby we strive to repel these apparent enemies. How would we do that, one may ask.
