yes it is true that Setting a custom domain will disable HTTPS.

If you have less knowledge of blogging , you may use option in blogger wrong.
For example in custom robots header tags if you select option on noindex
then you will get no traffic from search engine

and yes incorrect use of these features can result in your blog being ignored by search engines.
