    DBZ BUDOKAI 3:

Goku and the other Z Fighters are back again to save the Universe from the clutches of the fierce Frieza, the clever Cell and the…uh…beautiful? Buu. Like before, you can choose any of your favorite good guys or villains to duke it out like never before in Ki struggles, teleportation maneuvers and the new Dragon Rush mode. With the return of the story mode that was lacking from Budokai 2 and something that'll keep every fan busy, a build up mode with a password system, Budokai 3 adds up to the best Dragon Ball fighter made so far. And once again, IGN has you covered with strategy and info to help you on your quest.

With a long, sullied history of extremely poor DBZ games before it, Dragon Ball Z: Budokai was a bit of a revelation when it was released in 2002. Here was a 3D fighting game that, while not offering the deepest combat system, was still reasonably fun to play. Moreover, it featured a great story mode that basically summed up the entire run of the Dragon Ball Z manga-cum-anime in just a few hours. A year later, we got a sequel with improved cel-shaded graphics, but the slick story mode was replaced by a lame board game, and the additions made to the gameplay just didn't seem to mesh with what was already there. Dimps, the little-known developer responsible for the entire Budokai series, learned some lessons and has now returned to the scene with Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3. This is far and away the best Dragon Ball Z game around, and it's a must-have for DBZ fans. However, the action is also so fast-paced and viscerally satisfying that it can genuinely appeal even to those otherwise uninterested in Dragon Ball Z.
This is the best Dragon Ball Z game to date. The action in the Budokai games has never been particularly technical, and though Budokai 3 retains all the fundamentals, it adds several new gameplay mechanics that have significant impact on the action. The first is the new teleportation counter system, which, following a simple tap of the D pad and the X button at the right moment, will instantly teleport you right behind your opponent so you can deliver unto him or her a nice, crushing blow. If your opponent is quick enough on his or her feet, though, he or she can pull a reversal and teleport behind you, keeping this move from being an overpowered one. This little teleport maneuver can also be used to pop up behind your opponent after he or she has been knocked through the air, which lets you ping-pong him or her back and forth a few times. While this may sound like kind of an oddball mechanic to outsiders, Dragon Ball Z fans will recognize it as an integral part of just about any DBZ fight.

    DBZ BUDOKAI TENKAICHI 3:

The anime hype train may be focusing on "Naruto" recently, but that doesn't mean that the old standby "Dragon Ball Z" isn't still insanely popular. After all, Akira Toriyama's series has been finished in Japan for over ten years now and we're still seeing new games based on the adventures of Goku and company. The latest is Budokai Tenkaichi 3, the second sequel in a series that has become an annual tradition.

In keeping with that tradition, Tenkaichi 3 offers plenty of insane, ki-blasting fighting and enough Dragon Ball fan service to raise your power level over 9000, but there's not a whole lot of innovation or terribly deep combat. One thing the game does have, however, is a good variety of different modes. The main story mode is called Dragon History, and it takes you through a mess of battles made famous in all three DB series and the movies. Dragon History loses the map that you had to navigate in-between fights in Tenkaichi 2, which helps streamline the battles and keeps the action moving along.

Considering that many of the Dragon History bouts have been tackled in many previous games (they are the same old sagas, after all), some effort has been put into this mode to make the fights feel fresh. There are scripted moments within many of the battles when you're prompted to press the R3 button. This triggers a new story event within the fight, usually resulting in your current character flying out of the ring and an ally coming in to take over. During the match, it's not unusual to hear multiple characters talking to advance the storyline. It's a little odd at first, but it does a good job of replicating the feel of the anime.

    TEKKEN 5:

Remember Tekken? Just kidding. It's had some hard times, though. A few years back it was Namco's premier fighting series, until an upstart scamp called Soul Calibur snuck in and usurped the throne. Tekken's fate was further compounded by a disappointing fourth chapter, which left many wondering if the series was out of gas. As it turns out, Tekken 4 was just a temporary pit stop. I'm glad to report that Tekken 5 offers everything you could want from a Tekken game, and might even be the best brawler in the series. How's that for a turnaround?

    Like Greased Lightning

Tekken 5's main asset is its fast, smooth fighting engine. The action moves at a lightning-fast pace, with many rounds decided inside of 30 often heart-racing seconds. The system is fairly deep; attack reversals, chickens (reversals of reversals), dodges, wave-dashes, low parries, and good old-fashioned blocking are just some of the offensive and defensive options available to you. Best of all, the series' focus on spectacular juggles is alive and well, making for some truly satisfying combo possibilities. Walls are still present, but they play much less of a role than in the sometimes claustrophobic Tekken 4.

As for control, it goes without saying that the response is flawless and the button scheme well-designed. However, it's also worth noting that most of the characters' moves are less dependent on precise joystick inputs than in Virtua Fighter 4, so unlike that game, Tekken 5 can actually be played pretty well with the PS2's stock controller. A joystick never hurts, though.

great part of the PC version of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is the possiblity to modify it: Rockstar claims to have left important game data files unlocked and in text files as opposed to hard-coding them in the game. Although Rockstar lists "player modifications support" as a feature, it's safe to assume that Rockstar will not be providing any game editors with the game, and we can expect to be able to import additional player skins, probably in the form of clothes. Player models are at the moment split into around 10 different pieces, with two of each for different fitness levels. As such, player skins as seen in GTA Vice City are unlikely, unless we are provided with a custom slot with a single static mesh skin. Bear in mind that this is simply speculation at this point, as nothing solid has been confirmed yet.

It was decided that the PC version of San Andreas will not have an inbuilt 2-player mode as "the dual keyboard and mouse set up proved too unwieldy for players and didn't work with the PC version of San Andreas' greatly improved free camera mechanics. Rockstar North decided to focus on maximizing the single player experience."

    PC Specific Features:

    * Save your player stats to a HTML file, which can be put on the internet and shared with others.
    * Photos taken with the in-game camera can be exported as .JPG screenshot files.
    * Rockstar have claimed the "modding community will be supported." Specifically in what ways is yet to be seen.

You want to understand the perverse appeal of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, newly arrived on the PC from its original home on the PlayStation 2, look no farther than “Autocide.” The mission begins like many moments in the mob flicks that inspired this game, with an anonymous call at a pay phone. Everything seems routine, like the guy with the Colombian-cartel accent on the other end of the line orders up multiple murders every morning with his croissant.

That probably isn’t too surprising, seeing as the guy he’s speaking to is sociopath Tommy Vercetti, a just-paroled thug who’s willing to do anything for a buck. Thanks to my aiding and abetting with mouse and keyboard, he’s already gotten rid of a spend-happy wife, vivisected a snitch with a chainsaw, and driven over a moped-riding delivery boy who must have dropped off one too many cold pizzas at the local Italian Gentlemen’s Club. Being asked to race around town and kill six gang members planning a bank heist in under eight minutes is par for the course.
