Using Slide Timings in PowerPoint 2007 Presentations
Slide Timings represent the time that a slide will remain on the screen when the slide show is set to advance using timings instead of manually. Timings can be set manually or by rehearsing timings. You can apply timing to a single slide, to a group of slides, or to an entire presentation.
Manually Setting Slide Timings
To manually set slide timings:
Select the slide to which you would like to add a timing
Select the Animations tab
Click the check box next to "Automatically After:" NOTE: If both "On Mouse Click" or "Automatically After:" are
selected, you can manually advance the slides before the timings have elapsed
Use the arrows to increase or decrease the amount of time that should pass before the slide is advanced
Rehearsing Slide Timings
If you are unsure how much time to allow for the slide timings of a presentation, you can rehearse the slide show while PowerPoint automatically tracks and sets the timings.
To rehearse a presentation and set slide timings:
Select the Slide Show tab
Click the Rehearse Timings button The slideshow will begin and the Rehearsal toolbar appears in the top left corner of the
screen. The slideshow begins with slide 1 in rehearsal mode. You can practice the speech and move through the
presentation, slide by slide. The rehearsal toolbar includes Repeat, Pause, and Forward buttons and also displays the
timing of each slide as well as the total time of all slides.
Advance through the slides by clicking anywhere on the screen Each time you move to the next slide, PowerPoint
remembers how long the previous slide was displayed. Once you move past the last slide, you see a dialog box indicating
the length of the show and asking if you want to record the timings.
Click the Yes button
