MS Excel "IF" functioning help please

any respected person would like to help me on that issue i have a column where there are only 2 different words are written and they are "challaned" and "impound" all i want is that some one give me a formula so that all challaned comes in Number automatically excluding impounds in a separate column like if there are 250 total entries and out of these 200 are challend then it should show in a separate column that there are 200 challans.

you should use filter. with filter u can saprate every value

Here is the formula:

=COUNTIF(range,"CHALLANED")

replace the word range in above formula with the cells range (for the attached document, range is F3:F371).

sir if i wants that like in type of vehicle column we have van, coaster and rikshaw's it should separately calculate challaned rikshaw's and other vehicles and impounded rikshaw's and other vehicles what will be formula for it?

change product name & action taken to calculate seprately.
do not use alphabetic or alphanumeric value in fine column thanx
for nill value type 0

Another alternate approach. aap array formula bhee count karne k leye istimal kar saket hain k ketne van ka challan hua ha.

=SUM(($C$3:$C$371="van")*($F$3:$F$371="challaned"))

Note:- Array formulas must be enter with "control+shift+enter" combination. Agar aap ne formula drust combination k sath enter keya tu aap ko formula k gird {} nazar aae ge.

agar maloom karna ha k chanlan howe vans ka total fine kitna ha tu try this array formula

=SUM(($C$3:$C$371="van")*($F$3:$F$371="challaned")*($H$3:$H$371))

change condition accordingly.
