i use java to make jar application that can run on almost all mobiles including symbian. But you know symbian is different API so there may be different methodology that is used there. To program in java mobile application is my deep interest...but i can't find time to work more in this...as i am student of Computer Sciences and now a days busy in my final project that i have to develope in c#.
i think u will find same functionality in java to make jar file for your symbian instead of sis or sisx file. But still i have'nt work for symbian. i hope in near future i will be able to guide u...if u get some useful info ...do share with me...i hope v will b helpfull for each other...
i am refering u to following link where you will get j2me documentation. If u have good programming concepts...and know how to consult documents...then this link will surely help you. I started working on j2me plateform after consulting these documentation. i hope it will help u...(u may contact me on skype...same id there)

Dear try visual studio 2008...u know there is SDK available in it for developing application for smartphones(symbian)....u may consult with MSDN documentation...i think it will be an easy task for u as u have already coded in c#....i think now you have got a way... t/c
