What’s the Difference Between a Backlink and an Inbound Link?


Well... the Reciprocal Link Exchange is just a part of the Link Exchange process.

Link Exchange is direct marketing process of developing your website. The links could be either text ones or graphical banners. Link Exchanging must be a free process and it is advisable to exist between related content websites because it can straigthly influence search engines ranking positions.

Reciprocal Links Exchange is the process through which 2 webmasters decide to add links between their related content websites in order to ensure mutual traffic. Unfortunately it seems that search engines are no longer placing lately a heavy importance on reciprocal links. More important than reciprocal links are one way links and much more difficult to obtain.

Due to the fact that Reciprocal Links are given low consideration... webmasters started another technique named : "Three way linking" which is actually building natural ONE WAY links in the eyes of the search engines. I will describe it below :

way 1 : Site 1 links to Site 2

way 2 : Site 2 links to Site 3

way 3 : Site 3 links to Site 1

Don't forget that all of these websites must be of related content.

It is also wise to know that having a lot of links from non-related and non-relevant websites could potentially negatively affect your search engine result pages.


Reciprocal link is an agreement between two partners and it's a part of link exchanges. There are many other techniques of link exchange like one way, article submission, forum posting etc.

There is no difference between backlinks and inbound link as i mentioned! "Backlinks are links that are directed back to your site from other sites… Inbound links are just another name for backlinks. They are synonyms…"
