Installation of Nvidia drivers On Linux Backtrack 5 or later

First Download The Driver File From Nvidia and It must be in .run format
change its name and paste it on ur system desktop( name must be shorter like 2.run)
then press alt+ctrl+T it will pop up terminal and place the following command




echo options nouveau modeset=0 | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/nouveau-kms.conf
update-initramfs -u

then restart and try to not login in GUI ... u ll have press alt+ctrl+f1 raptaidly
after entring in console mode type the location of ur file (driver file)
if file is on desktop then type cd ~/Desktop
after this type the name of the file like this
./2.run (2.run is the name of the file which i downloaded from nvidia and renamed it for ease of access)
install the driver( its easy)
now reboot
when u login to ur system after installation the resoloution will be changed and it will creat problem
soloution is
open the console by pressing alt+ctrl+t
and type
gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf ( this is xorg configuration file and we are going to edit it)
search for the section monitor
under this section we will see HorizSync 28.0-33.0 and VertRefresh 43.0-72.0
replace them with HorizSync 30.0-83.0 and VertRefresh 56.0-75.0
now reboot ur system and we are done
