O you who declare to have accepted! do not render your gifts of generosity as worthless scum by reproach/making/pronouncing account of it and embarrassment like the one who spends his wealth merely for pomp and show and does not believe in Allah and the Last Day. For this reason his example is like a rock upon which there is a layer of soil which is washed away by heavy rainfall leaving it a naked rock. They have no power [to permanently retain] over what they have earned. And Allah does not guide [against their own will/considered decision] those who are mischievous/distorters; [2:264]
